Terms of Service
Version 1.1 · Effective November 1, 2026 · Updated November 1, 2026
- You can browse the CrimeCalls™ deadline board at no charge. We check listings by hand, but we show them as-is and can’t promise every detail is current.
- Always confirm deadlines, fees and rules on the organizer’s official page before you submit or pay anything. We don’t run any contest or decide any result.
- The $9 Submission Calendar is a one-time purchase for your own use. Nothing renews.
- Buying at checkout means you accept these terms. Arizona law applies.
1. Who we are and what these terms cover
CrimeCalls™ (crimecalls.com) is operated by Continuing Education And Training, LLC, an Arizona limited liability company (mailing address: 500 Westover Drive, Suite 17707, Sanford, NC 27330) (“CrimeCalls™,” “we,” “us” or “our”). You can reach us at hello@crimecalls.com.
These terms cover your use of crimecalls.com (the “site”), our weekly email, and the $9 2026–27 Crime Writer Submission Calendar (the “Calendar”). If you buy a featured listing or featured resource, our Sponsor / Featured Listing Terms also apply. Our Privacy page explains what data we collect and how we use it.
2. Accepting these terms
By using the site you agree to these terms. If you don’t agree, please don’t use the site. If you buy something, you accept these terms when you click to buy and pay at checkout.
You agree that we can contract with you electronically. Clicking to buy and paying at checkout is your electronic signature and means you accept these terms, just as if you had signed them on paper, under the federal E-SIGN Act (15 U.S.C. § 7001 and following) and Arizona’s Electronic Transactions Act (A.R.S. § 44-7001 and following). Electronic copies of these terms and of your order count as originals. We may send notices to the email address you gave at checkout, and you can send notices to hello@crimecalls.com.
You must be at least 18, or the age of majority where you live, to buy anything from us.
3. Listings are shown as-is
CrimeCalls™ lists contests, awards, anthology calls, magazines and publishers for mystery, crime and thriller writers. We check each listing by hand against the organizer’s official page and show the date we last checked it. Still:
- Listings, deadlines, fees, prizes, pay, word counts and rules are provided “as is” and “as available.” Organizers change dates, fees and rules, sometimes without notice, and we may miss a change or make a mistake.
- We don’t run these contests, awards or publications, we don’t judge them, and we are not any organizer’s agent. Listing an opportunity is not an endorsement of it, and leaving one out is not a judgment against it.
- We don’t guarantee any outcome. We can’t promise that you will be accepted, published, shortlisted, paid or awarded anything, or that an organizer will run its contest or pay its prize as announced.
- Standard listings are added as a courtesy, at our discretion, and organizers don’t pay for them. We may edit, decline, update or remove any listing at any time.
- The site is general information for writers. It is not legal, financial or publishing-contract advice.
4. Verify every deadline with the organizer
Before you submit or pay any entry or reading fee, confirm the deadline, the time zone, the fee, the eligibility rules and the rights terms on the organizer’s official page. Every listing links to that page. The organizer’s page always controls if it differs from ours. We are not responsible for a missed deadline, a rejected or disqualified entry, a fee you paid to an organizer, or rights you granted to an organizer. Any deal you make with an organizer is between you and that organizer.
If something looks wrong, please email hello@crimecalls.com and we’ll check it against the official page.
5. Links to other sites
The site links to organizers’ pages and other websites that we don’t own or control. We aren’t responsible for their content, accuracy, availability, security, privacy practices or terms, or for anything you buy from them. Visiting them is at your own risk, and their own terms and privacy policies apply.
6. Paid placements and affiliate links
Some spots on the site are paid placements (featured listings and featured resources). We always label them as paid, and a featured call still has to pass the same check as every other listing. A paid placement is advertising, not an endorsement. Some pages may include affiliate links, labelled “affiliate link,” and we may earn a commission if you buy. Paid placements and affiliate links never decide whether a call is listed.
7. The $9 Submission Calendar
| What it is | The 2026–27 Crime Writer Submission Calendar: a printable PDF of the current CrimeCalls™ listings organized month by month, plus a CSV spreadsheet file and an ICS calendar file. |
|---|---|
| Price | $9 (US dollars), charged once at checkout through Stripe. |
| Renewal | None. It is a one-time payment. Nothing renews and you will not be charged again. |
| Delivery | After checkout you go straight to your download page with the files. Please bookmark it. |
| Updates | The files on the download page may be regenerated when we re-check the board. We aim to keep the download page available through July 31, 2027, but we don’t promise any particular number or timing of updates. If the page ever stops working for you, email hello@crimecalls.com and we’ll send you the current files. |
Same information as the site. The Calendar is built from the same listings you can browse on the board. You are paying for the format. It carries the same “as is” terms as the site (sections 3 and 4), and every entry is accurate only as of the date shown on it.
Your license. When you buy the Calendar, we give you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to download, print and use it for your own writing. You may share a printed page with a writing friend or group, but you may not resell, republish, post online or redistribute the files, in whole or in large part.
Refunds. Because the Calendar is a digital download you get right away, sales are final once the download page has been delivered, with these exceptions: if a file is missing, damaged or won’t open, or you were charged more than once, email hello@crimecalls.com within 14 days of purchase. We’ll fix the problem or, if we can’t, refund your $9 through Stripe to your original payment method. Nothing in these terms limits any right you have under applicable law.
8. The weekly email
If you join our weekly “closing soon” email, we’ll use your address only to send it, as our Privacy page explains. Every email will include a way to unsubscribe. The same “as is” and “verify with the organizer” terms apply to the email. We may change how often it goes out, or stop it.
9. Using the site fairly
Please don’t misuse the site. That means you won’t try to break or overload it, get around its security, send us spam or malicious files, or use it to break the law. Our listings are also offered as open data (JSON) and plain-text files on the site. You may use them with a link back to crimecalls.com, but you may not present our listings as your own product or sell copies of them. We may block access by anyone who misuses the site.
10. Our content
CrimeCalls™, the CrimeCalls™ name and logo, and the site’s design, text, guides, compilation of listings and the Calendar belong to Continuing Education And Training, LLC. Organizer names and trademarks belong to their owners and are used only to identify their opportunities.
11. Disclaimer of warranties
To the fullest extent the law allows, the site, the listings, the email and the Calendar are provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including warranties of accuracy, completeness, merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose or non-infringement. We don’t promise the site will always be available, secure or error-free.
12. Limit of our liability
To the fullest extent the law allows, our total liability to you for any claim about the site, the listings, the email or the Calendar is limited to the greater of (a) the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim or (b) $25. We are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, including missed deadlines, lost entry fees, lost opportunities, lost prizes or lost profits. Some places don’t allow some of these limits, so they apply to you only as far as the law allows.
13. Indemnity
If you misuse the site or break these terms and someone makes a claim against us because of it, you agree to cover our reasonable costs of that claim, including reasonable attorney’s fees, to the extent the law allows.
14. Governing law and venue
Arizona law governs these terms and any dispute about them or about CrimeCalls™, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Any lawsuit must be brought only in the state or federal courts located in Arizona, and you and we both agree to those courts’ jurisdiction. Before filing anything, please email us at hello@crimecalls.com and give us 30 days to try to sort it out informally.
15. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. We’ll post the new version on this page with a new version number and effective date, and keep earlier versions available on request. A purchase is governed by the version in effect when you bought. Continuing to use the site after a change means you accept the new version.
16. General
These terms (together with the Sponsor Terms, if you buy a placement) are the whole agreement between you and us about their subject. If any part is found unenforceable, the rest still applies. If we don’t enforce a term right away, we haven’t waived it. We aren’t responsible for delays or failures caused by events outside our reasonable control, such as hosting or payment-processor outages. You may not transfer your rights under these terms without our written consent; we may transfer ours to a successor of the CrimeCalls™ business.
